Information and signposting navigator

Emily is our trained signpost navigator in the Practice. She is responsible for signposting people to local community resources, empowering them to manage their personal needs and reducing their reliance on GPs. She has set up an information stand in the waiting area and is responsible for advertising all the national campaigns and locality information. During February Emily is promoting SmearforSmear, Eating Disorders, Mental Health Time to Talk Day and OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder). Please see the information stand in the waiting area.

During February Emily, who appears in the photograph, along with other staff members has actively promoted #SmearforSmear to encourage patients to attend for a smear test.

The SmearforSmear campaign is to ensure women understand the importance of screening in preventing cervical cancer. Smear tests prevent 75% of cervical cancers so whilst they may not be pleasant, they are important.
