Measles

We have been informed by the Health Protection Agency that there have been a number of cases of measles in England.  Several children and adults have been admitted to hospital with complications.  Cases appear to be occurring mainly in older children and young adults who have not been fully immunised with MMR (measles, mumps and rubella). A significant number of cases have recently travelled to Europe and Europe have observed outbreaks of measles in groups that have not been fully immunised.  We urge patients to contact us directly if you suspect measles.  We also urge patients to contact the surgery to make an appointment with the Practice Nurse if your child has not had the MMR vaccination and adults to contact the surgery if you are unsure if you have ever had measles in the past.
